Description:
The M16 rifle was developed during the 1960's as a replacement for the US Army's ageing M14. The rifle began life with some teething problems, and the first batch released into service by colt had problems with a bolt prone to jamming in the arduous conditions of the Vietnam battlefield. This is the first version of the rifle, earmarked the VN version, which pre-dates the introduction of a forward assist mechanism, seen on later versions of the rifle.
Internally, this rifle uses the WA platform GBB internals, with steel construction to give it the robustness it needs.
