The M16A1 rifle is distinctly remembered for its service during the Vietnam War and subsequently taking a starring role in movies about Vietnam. The M16 family was created as a modern solution to the then aging M14 platform but had a very difficult start. The origional M16 (dubbed the VN model) had severe problems with jamming and was replaced within a year or so with the A1 model.
This Airsoft M16A1 features all the classic hallmarks that you would expect from a Vietnam era rifle and compared to what most of us know as modern M4/M16 variants, it does appear quite crude. The receiver is classically very flat without the modern addition of a brass deflector has the large forward assist added. In the front end, it has the triangular handguard with the old style prong flash hider. The receiver also has the integrated carry handle, which means you cannot remove it like on modern M4 variants, this WE also does unfortunately not feature any markings.
Internally, this rifle is one of WE's newer open bolt systems and should perform very well. With estimated velocties near the 500FPS mark with a .20g BB.
This is a must for anybody who wants to get involved with Vietnam themed skirmishes, or collectors who are looking for something classic and iconic.
